Life Ball. Vienna.

Life Ball is the largest charity event in Europe that takes place in Vienna every year. It was founded in 1992 by Gery Keszler who initiated and organized the visit of Russian designers of the brand SEREDIN&VASILIEV to Vienna and invited them to participate in the charity ball in 2000. That year, the star of the ball was the Israeli pop-diva Dana International. She opened the show with her hit called FREE that had taken over the world. On the stage, Dana looked gorgeous in her black dotted dress made by SEREDIN&VASILIEV. The very invitation of the Russian designers Vlasimir Seredin and Sergey Vasiliev to such a famous and spectacular European show was a revolution. Neither before, nor after 2000 was a Russian designer honored to join the list of the participants of the famous ball that includes Thierry Mugler, Cristian Lacroix, Philip Treacy, Vivienne Westwood, Paco Rabanne, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, John Galliano, Gianfranco Ferré, Givenchy, Lanvin, Jean Paul Gaultier, Etro, DSquared². Starting from 1992 one or a few celebrity designers are made responsible for the fashion show at the ball. Professional models on the catwalk such as Marcus Schenkenberg, Alek Wek, Nadja Auermann, Heidi Klum, Eva Padberg, Eva Riccobono and Naomi Campbell appear along with stars and celebrities such as Udo Kier, Olivia Jones, Til Schweiger, Kylie Minogue, Cyndi Lauper and Dolly Buster. Life Ball is one of the most popular and most spectacular charity events in the world. The mission of the event is to struggle with the AIDS, so the opening ceremony on the square in Front of the Vienna City Hall includes a minute’s silence. All the raised money is given to the organizations that help people with HIV. The team of AIDS LIFE responsible for the money distribution considers each application individually. Moreover, the aim of AIDS LIFE programs is increasing the level of public awareness about the disease. The number of tickets to Life Ball is limited to 3780. To maintain the unique and extravagant nature of the event, the organizers divide the tickets into categories. So, the fixed number of tickets called Style Tickets are available for a half of the prime cost and are for those who match the Life Ball Style dress code.
